Designing your own Spider Climbing Wall is easy, once you
understand the basics of how the wall panels and the climbing
gear interact. Our modular 4 x 4 ft. panels can be used in
most applications. These panels have self-contained steel
framing as well as the appropriate finish on the climbing
surface.
The
Spider Climbing Gear requires a specific friction
coefficient to be present on the wall surface to achieve the
desired climbing action. This is why the climbing surface
finish is so important to performance. The angle of the
climbing surface can vary from completely vertical to
slightly slanted. The angle of the wall will determine the
degree of difficulty for the climber and the lift capability
of the climbing gear. As the wall angle decreases from 90
degrees (or completely vertical) the lift capability of the
climbing gear increases and it's easier for the climber to
move along the wall. When deciding on the design for your
wall, these are key considerations to the success of the
attraction. Our standard climbing walls are designed for
optimum gear lift capability and climbing ease for the youngest
climbers.
Curved
panels are possible as long as the curve radius does not
impede the contact of the climbing surface with the climbing
gear. Design concepts are all reviewed for feasibility
before any engineering costs are incurred.
