News from the President Thanks for visiting the Spider Climbing web site, we have truly appreciated all the support and interest we have received from around the world. Spider Climbing Magnetic Climbing Systems are now operating in many countries around the world and throughout the U.S. June, 2008... New Product Upgrade: Polyurethane Cartridges This month Spider Climbing will be introducing our new magnetic cartridges for use with our climbing gloves and leg gear. These cartridges have been in R&D for the past year and a half and are finally ready for our customers. The new cartridges are a self-contained polyurethane design which will incorporate the cartridge mounting structure and exterior casing. This polyurethane material is the same material as used in making rollerblade wheels and has proven to be extremely strong and durable. |

Those that have used our climbing equipment in the past will notice the cartridges no longer require the skid plates or mounting gaskets used on the older version. While the wear patterns are still the same on the new cartridges, the new design incorporates the skid plate's duties in absorbing the initial shock of the climbing gear engaging the climbing wall. This new material is a bit thicker and softer so one of the more noticeable changes is that the gear is quieter and the climbing gear engages and disengages smoothly. We have also noticed some increase in climbing weight performance. The biggest change is overall durability and extended service life. |

Switching from the older style cartridges to the new version, does require a retro fit modification to the climbing gloves. Customers wishing to upgrade to the new cartridges can contact us directly for pricing. We will be offering a rebate on old cartridges as well as special service for the glove modifications. Climbing Glove improvements: In addition to the new cartridges, we have made some improvements to our climbing gloves. All new model climbing gloves will have the smaller polyurethane cartridges, color coding for size matched to the leg gear and have a new polyethylene cartridge plate for the glove insert. Why is this an improvement? Glad you asked... The new poly-u cartridges are smaller, so the gloves have a smaller attachment plate inside. This attachment plate is now made of a polyethylene material with flush brass cartridge attachment points, it's thinner, softer and smaller, which makes the gloves lighter and far more comfortable and durable. Color coding the gloves is done with a new (Blue, Red, Yellow, or Green) color polyester tab added to the wrist strap attachment point. The color coding makes it easy for operations staff to identify the size, and the material we used is super tough so it strengthens that area of the glove. One of the fringe benefits of the new cartridges on the gloves is that now that the cartridges have polyurethane coating, the shock absorption to the climbers hands when engaging the wall is softened. Not that it was a problem before, but it's just a noticeable change. Kind of like switching from bare feet to some new cushy slippers.
